THE COMPETITION
Each contestant will submita CD or cassette recording of the specified repertoire. On the basis of these preliminary recordings, the contest may be limited to forty performers. Those accepted will perform for the judgesand an audience in the first round; six semifinalists will be chosen from the string divisions and six from the piano divisions to compete in the second round. Two string players and two pianists will advance to compete in the finals on Sunday afternoon for the Young Artist Awards. All prizes are awarded at the discretion of the judges, whose decisions are final.

REPERTOIRE
All music must be performed from memory.

STRINGS
First Round
First or final movement of a standard concerto, or a single-movement work and a solo from a different historical period, excluding duo sonatas. Playing time may be limited to twenty minutes at the judges' discretion.
Second Round
Another movement of the concerto
Finals
The entire concerto

PIANO
The total repertoire shall be a complete concerto and two solo pieces, representing three different historical periods.
First Round
First or last movement of a concerto, or a single-movementwork and two solo pieces.
Playing time will be 15 minutes for solos, 15 minutes for concerto movement.
Second Round
Another movement of the concerto
Finals
The entire concerto


ELIGIBILITY
The contest is open to any student of piano, violin, viola, cello,double bass, or harp* who will not have reached her/his twenty-sixth birthday by February 19, 2006. Students of current judges or previous winners of any Corpus Christi Young Artists' awards are ineligible.

*As there have been relatively few harp and guitar entries, we now alternate years for them.

ACCOMPANISTS
