Brass Studio
The brass faculty at Del Mar College consists of Dr. Scott Hagarty (trumpet), Mr. Karl Kemm (horn), and Dr. Donald Pinson (trombone and low brass). Brass students receive weekly lessons and have the opportunity to perform with the concert band, jazz band, Mariachi Del Mar, orchestra and various brass ensembles. In addition, music majors gain experience in solo performance through a workshop setting of brass labs and formal solo class recitals, which are held every Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
Each year, nationally recognized brass artists come to Del Mar College to perform and give clinics. Guest artists have included William Bernatis, horn; John Reimund, tuba; members of the River City Brass Band; the Meridian Arts Ensemble; the Boston Brass; the Atlantic Brass Quintet; David Greenhoe, trumpet; Wiff Rudd, trumpet; and Brian Bowman, euphonium."
