Overview
Workshops
Since 1984 NCBI has worked on over 100 college campuses in North America.
NCBI's college and university work has grown dramatically in the last
few years in the aftermath of increased racial incidents on campuses.
NCBI is one of the few organizations that have offered universities
a systemic approach to welcoming diversity and dealing with bigotry.
NCBI's work with colleges and universities is broader than one-shot
workshops, which can be limited in their effect. Instead, NCBI works
with staff, faculty, and students to provide an institutional response
to racism. This is accomplished by recruiting and training a campus
team of student leaders, administrators, and faculty , who act as ongoing
trainers and intervenors on campus, leading the
PREJUDICE
REDUCTION WORKSHOP and conflict resolution programs
for every department and student group. Following an initial 3 day train-the-trainer
program, the Campus Team becomes an NCBI Affiliate and receives ongoing
support and consultation from the NCBI staff.
Past DMC NCBI workshop participant responses:
"This was the best seminar I ever attended!"
"It really opened my eyes."
"I now feel I am part of an awesome team, and it feels great that
our ideas and thoughts do count!"
