2005 GED Graduates Beating the Odds with Educational Success
Determination helps students beat the odds to earn high school equivalency
certificates
The odds seem to play against them, but their determination to get an education
has kept them going. On Thursday, June 23, over 170 Del Mar College 2005 GED
(General Education Development) graduates will take center stage to receive
their high school equivalency certificates.
The 2005 commencement begins at 7 p.m. in the College’s East Campus Gymnasium,
facing Baldwin Blvd. Corpus Christi Mayor Henry Garrett will give the keynote
address.
Among the Class of 2005 GED graduates is 61-year-old honorary graduate, Mary
Hoffman, who took GED classes in the Adult Learning Center of the Corpus Christi
Independent School District for eight years before continuing with the College’s
GED program for two more years. Other graduates include:
