Annual Recognition Day Ceremony Scheduled for April 14 to
College recognizing students’ achievements and inducting those chosen for 2004-2005 “Hall of Fame”

VISUALS: Anticipation, surprise and relief--students receiving recognition for their achievements during Del Mar College’s 54th Annual Recognition Ceremony will experience these emotions as the institution honors its outstanding students and announces its seven newest Hall of Fame inductees.

FYI: Dating back to 1949, Del Mar College has inducted nearly 350 students into its prestigious Hall of Fame. These student leaders’ framed photographs and list of achievements are displayed on the second floor of the College’s Harvin Student Center. During the Recognition Ceremony, 14 finalists out of 23 qualified nominees will wait with bated breath to see which seven students Del Mar will induct into the 2004-2005 Hall of Fame.

The 14 finalists who anticipate being among this year’s inductees include Roy Abraham, an occupational therapy assistant major; Thomas Andreassen, an electrical engineering major; Amy Davis, a registered nurse education major; James Dobson, a mechanical engineering major; Juan Garcia, a registered nurse education major; Laura Garza, a human services major; Hillary Jongema, a registered nurse education major; Candace Leal, a criminal justice major; Justin Nauer, a triple major that includes network support specialist, network administration and information technology security associate; Steven Ortiz, a drafting major; Joseph C. Ramirez, a criminal justice major; Kevin Saegert, a physical therapist assistant major; Michele Stebbins, a registered nurse education major; and Edwin Vasquez, a journalism major. The College’s Hall of Fame is a distinguished group of students selected for their scholarship, leadership and participation in student organizations.

Administrators will also recognize 91 outstanding students in the College’s Honors Program and from its three instructional divisions. During the ceremony, Del Mar will present 45 scholarships to recipients for the 2005-2006 academic year as well as recognize the 126 students named to the current list of Who’s Who Among Students In American Junior Colleges.
