Former Del Mar College (DMC) art student and W. B. Ray High School graduate
Sarah Treanor was chosen recently to have one of the Top Ten Portfolios
among students enrolled in the University of North Texas (UNT) Communication
Design Program.
What does that mean for Treanor? She can now move into UNTs higher level
of graphic design courses.
Communication Design students undergo faculty reviews and compete to move forward
in the program. Treanor competed against 80 other students for one of the coveted
spots.
Were proud of Sarah and her success in the competitive Communication
Design Program at the University of North Texas, says Kenneth Rosier,
chair of Del Mar Colleges Department of Art. She has an excellent
sense of composition, both in two and three dimensions, as well as the ability
to produce work displaying excellent craftsmanship.
I was particularly impressed with her sculptural work, the best of which
was museum or gallery quality, Rosier adds. Her talent is quite
unusual for a young developing artist."
Treanor took DMC Dual Credit courses while attending Ray High School. As a student
at Del Mar College, she was very active in the Student Art Association. The
studio art major is now studying for a bachelors degree in fine arts in
Communication Design at UNT, which has one of the largest art programs in the
nation.
