Physical Facilities

INTRODUCTION

The department provides support services to the College by maintaining and enhancing the physical environment of both buildings and grounds with a concentration on quality customer service. Service units within the department include the Central Plant, HVAC & Energy Management, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, Carpentry/Locksmith, and Day Porters. Custodial and Grounds services are provided by contract service. The department's mission statement and objectives were developed to clearly define the purpose of the department in relation to the College and focuses on these priorities.

MISSION STATEMENT

"In support of the College's teaching and public function, it is the mission of the Del Mar College Physical Facilities Department to maintain and enhance the physical environment of both buildings and grounds through planning, development, and execution of preventative maintenance, maintenance, and construction services, with its highest priority towards quality customer service."

OBJECTIVES

Departmental objectives are developed each year and documented on Weave-on-Line. Objectives of the Department of Physical Facilities include:

  • Strive to continuously improve quality and effectiveness in our customer service.
  • Staff an efficient department to allow optimum completion of work load.
  • Work towards increased productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Strive for full implementation by staff of the computerized work management system work orders and preventative maintenance modules.
