Social Sciences Department

Social Sciences Department

The Department of Social Sciences has outstanding faculty who are productive scholars and great educators, including distinguished professors, Piper Professors, and Emeritus Professors. Faculty are active researchers, and their work has appeared in academic journals, books, and popular publications.

The Department of Social Sciences offers excellent educational opportunities that allow students to reach across social, political, economic, geographical, and ethnic boundaries and explore common themes. Department graduates have successfully transferred to four-year colleges and universities, and surveys indicate that they perform as well as students who start their freshman year at those schools.

Our department includes excellent programs in history, government, psychology, sociology, and Mexican-American Studies (MAS). Take a look at our website and learn about our faculty, our publications, our students, our classes, and our accomplishments.

And you are always welcome to visit us, contact us, or even make a contribution to help fund student scholarships. Our mission is to enrich our knowledge, educate our students, and be an active part of the community. The Department of Social Sciences welcomes you to join us.
