Promotion and Tenure: Promotion
to a higher rank of Assistant Professor or higher confers tenure.
Promotion and tenure are separate processes and will be managed as
such. Promotion is related to selection
for a more prestigious title and increased compensation. Tenure is related to the concept of
continuous employment. As such,
promotion, per se, will not automatically ensure the granting of tenure at Del
Mar College.

B6.5 Tenure
B6.5.2 Probation
B6.5.2.1 The probationary term of
service at Del Mar College shall be five (5) academic years, except in the
event of promotion under B6.4.
B6.5.2.1.1
Promotion to a higher rank confers tenure.
B6.5.4.1 The
faculty member must have completed four (4) academic years of the probationary
period; i.e., the faculty member must be in the fifth (5th) academic year of
the probationary period, except in the event of promotion under B6.4.
