Proposed Revision(s):

A6.4.4 Promotion and Tenure:  Promotion to a higher rank of Assistant Professor or higher confers tenure.  Promotion and tenure are separate processes and will be managed as such.  Promotion is related to selection for a more prestigious title and increased compensation.  Tenure is related to the concept of continuous employment.  As such, promotion, per se, will not automatically ensure the granting of tenure at Del Mar College.

B6.5 Tenure

            B6.5.2 Probation

                        B6.5.2.1 The probationary term of service at Del Mar College shall be five (5) academic years, except in the event of promotion under B6.4.

                                    B6.5.2.1.1 Promotion to a higher rank confers tenure.

B6.5.4.1 The faculty member must have completed four (4) academic years of the probationary period; i.e., the faculty member must be in the fifth (5th) academic year of the probationary period, except in the event of promotion under B6.4.
