Proposed Revision(s):

B2.4 Standing Committees, Cabinets, and Councils: The President appoints committee members, some of whom are recommended to him by the Faculty Council and other College advisory groups. Each year the President will announce to the faculty and staff the committee membership.

B2.4.1 Board Committees

B2.4.1.1 The Affirmative Action Committee:  The Affirmative Action Committee, which consists of nine members appointed by the President of the College and the Equity and Human Resources, ex-officio, represents faculty, administration, technical, and nonexempt clerical and maintenance support personnel. Membership is representative of the cultural, socio-economic, ethnic, and racial groups employed on both campuses of Del Mar College. Appointed members serve for three years, with one-third of the members appointed each year; replacements serve unexpired terms of members who resign. Duties and responsibilities of the members are specified in the Affirmative Action Plan of the College.

B2.4.1.2 The Curriculum Committee:  The Curriculum Committee has the responsibility of recommending the approval of individual courses and of programs of courses leading to a certificate and/or to an associate's degree. Committee members are concerned not only with specific courses, but also with the relationship of such courses to the offerings of the College as a whole. Decisions regarding courses are based, among other factors, on student needs, available faculty and facilities, transferability, and state approval. This committee is concerned with the relationship of grading standards, student scholarship standards, graduation requirements, and evaluation of the various curricula and programs of the College obtained from the Institutional Program Review process.

B2.4.1.3 The Faculty Council:  The Faculty Council, created to provide the faculty with a means to define and to realize professional goals more effectively and to maintain communications among members of the faculty and between faculty and administration, serves as an advisory and consultative group to the President. The Chair of the Faculty Council announces Council membership each year after an election, which is explained in the Bylaws of the Council.

A2.4.12 Standing Committees:  The standing committees of the College include, but are not limited to, the Curriculum Committee, the Exempt Advisory Committee, the Faculty Council, the Instruction and Student Development Council, the Nonexempt Advisory Committee, and the President’s Staff.  (For a complete listing with current members, see Link)

A2.4.23 Ad Hoc Committees: Ad Hoc Committees are appointed for a limited duration by the President for the completion of specific tasks.  (For a current listing with members, see Link).

Note:  The Affirmative Action Committee, the Curriculum Committee, and the Faculty Council are listed under the Standing Committees via the link above and do not need to be listed as Board authorized committees.  (See pages 3, 4, and 6 for listings.)
