Del Mar College President
Welcome to Del Mar College’s Web site,
As President of Del Mar College, as well as a former student of this exemplary
institution, I am dedicated to providing excellent educational opportunities while
increasing access for all residents of the Coastal Bend. Del Mar College offers more
than 190 degree and certificate programs and enrolls close to 22,000 credit and
noncredit students each year.
Del Mar College is among the top 3% of the nation’s institutions awarding associate
degrees to Hispanic students. On average, 95% of our graduates requiring state or
national certification--such as registered nurses, court reporters, echocardiography
technicians and dental hygienists--pass those tests and launch successful careers
each year.
Providing access to a Del Mar College education is a high priority for me. In my first
year as president, the College kept our tuition rates low, less than $900 for a full semester
course load for district residents. We cut the out-of-district fee in half for
those students who live outside the College district. We doubled the capacity to offer
GED high school equivalency courses.
In addition to innovative programs in aviation maintenance, biomedical
instrumentation, laser and fiber optics and cyber security, the College recently
rededicated the Garcia Science Building with its exceptional research laboratories.
The renovated Kinesiology Complex includes a new weight room and workout
facility and dance studio, jogging track and tennis courts.
In short, whether you choose to study on the East Campus, the West Campus, enroll
in our online degree programs in nursing, business administration or criminal
justice, or sign up for a workforce or continuing education class, Del Mar College is a
great investment.
If I can assist you with your educational goals, please contact me,
Mark Escamilla, Ph.D.
