Criminal Justice

Criminal justice is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as, “ The system of law enforcement, the bar, the judiciary, corrections, and probation that is directly involved in the apprehension, prosecution, defense, sentencing, incarceration, and supervision of those suspected of or charged with criminal offenses.”

The purpose of the Criminal Justice program at Del Mar College is twofold: (1) to offer educational opportunities to the student who intends to seek employment in the field of criminal justice, including both law enforcement and corrections, upon completion of the associate degree; (2) to offer the transfer student the equivalent of the first two years in a bachelor's degree program at a university. To fulfill senior college requirements, the student should consult an advisor.
