Mr. Ellis is Director of the Occupational Safety & Health Technology Program. Mr. Ellis has over 30 years in the safety industry serving over 15 years in various safety related positions with AMOCO Oil (now British Petroleum).

Since beginning the OSHT program over 10 years ago, Mr. Ellis has trained Safety Technicians who work in the petroleum, maritime, and construction industries throughout the Coastal Bend, Texas, and worldwide.

Mr. Ellis is a past recipient of the Del Mar West Campus Instructor of the Year award. He has also received recognition in Who’s Who among College Instructors for three years.

Sandra Cervantes

Sandra Cervantes
Adjunct Instructor of Occupational Safety and Health Technology

Ms. Cervantes has been involved in the safety industry for more than six years. She was employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for over thirteen years, eight of which she served as a supervisor. She has extensive training in management and supervision from the State of Texas.

She has worked in various positions as a safety technician, safety consultant, and safety trainer. Ms. Cervantes joined the OSHT faculty in 2005.
