Scholarships provided by Flint Hills Resources to address workforce needs; Funds covering tuition, fees and books for up to five semesters
During an announcement today, Sept. 22, Del Mar College, DMC Foundation, Corpus Christi Independent School District and Flint Hills Resources representatives recognized four students who received Flint Hills Resources Process Technology Scholarships to pursue studies in the field and then employment with the company upon graduating.
Flint Hills Resources has teamed with Foy H. Moody High School’s Industrial Trades and Technology Academy to offer a unique scholarship opportunity for recent graduates to earn an associate’s degree in process technology at Del Mar College. Scholarship awards cover recipients’ academic needs including tuition, fees and books for up to five semesters while they train for the field.
The following students represent the fourth group awarded such scholarships and include Stevie De La Rosa, John Galvan, Jessica Garza and Gabriela Montemayor.
Process technology technicians monitor and control mechanical, physical and chemical changes throughout many processes to produce a final product made from raw materials. Technicians are responsible for controlling, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment in processes; maintaining a safe work environment; and analyzing, evaluating and communicating data obtained through the use of technology.
