ASSESSMENT

Please refer to the Assessment Levels chart to see how scores are used. Your advisor can explain this further. Del Mar College requires placement of all students before they can register. Some students may be exempt from THEA (formerly TASP) and will need ACT, SAT, or COMPASS to register. See the Assessment Exemptions section for further information.

Assessment Levels

Reading (R), English (E), and Mathematics (M) levels are assigned for most courses in the credit division. These levels are used for placement in courses. Students must meet the assessment levels listed in the Del Mar College Catalog* either by one of the placement tests shown here or by passing the previous level course or its equivalent at another college.
*If no reading, writing or math assessment level is provided in the catalog for a givn course, it is level 1 for that area.

Scores

ACT and SAT scores may not be more than five years old.
