ASSESSMENT
Please refer to the Assessment Levels chart to see how scores are used.
Your advisor can explain this further. Del Mar College requires placement
of all students before they can register. Some students may be exempt from
THEA (formerly TASP) and will need ACT, SAT, or COMPASS to register. See
the Assessment Exemptions section
for further information.
Assessment Levels
Reading (R), English (E), and Mathematics (M) levels are assigned for most
courses in the credit division. These levels are used for placement in
courses. Students must meet the assessment levels listed in the Del Mar
College Catalog* either by one of the placement tests shown here or by
passing the previous level course or its equivalent at another college.
*If no reading, writing or math assessment level is provided in
the catalog for a givn course, it is level 1 for that area.
Scores
ACT and SAT scores may not be more than five years old.
