FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING
OPTIONS
return to Registration Information
You can take college credit courses in several ways that fit your busy schedule.
Flexible scheduling options allow you to take Del Mar College classes off campus,
on television, online, on weekends, and even finish your degree more quickly.
Just a reminder: these courses require the same admissions, registration, tuition,
and prerequisites as other credit classes.
Choosing distance learning courses, or Web-based courses allows more flexibility for your busy schedule. But don't
be misled, these courses aren't easier than courses taught on campus. Successful
distance learning students dedicate specific time each week to their studies,
stay committed to keeping up with class assignments, and take the initiative
to stay in contact with instructors. If you are an organized, self-starter committed
to your studies, distance learning can give you more flexibility for your education
schedule. For more information, visit www.delmar.edu/distancelearning.
PAIRED AND CLUSTERED
COURSES - (361) 698-1430 or (361) 698-2265
In order to enhance students’ learning experience, Del Mar College offers
a number of clustered and paired courses. Clustered courses (made up of three
or more courses) and paired courses (made up of two courses) seek to remove
some of the barriers that often separate subjects and replace those barriers
with connections to help students discover relationships among different courses.
Besides adding greater depth and meaning to students’ educational experience,
these approaches also encourage a sense of community, involvement, and support
among participating students because those students become part of a unique
group taking specially designed courses together.
Note: Students enrolling in clustered or paired courses should understand that
they must enroll in all of the courses included in each cluster or pair. In
addition, if they should decide to drop one of the courses in a pair or a cluster,
they must drop the other courses in that pair or cluster, as well. Please see
individual course sections in the main
body of the schedule for detailed information on Paired or Clustered courses.
An example listing of a Paired course follows:
