STUDENT ORGANIZATION

Students are encouraged to participate in various campus activities as long as this participation does not interfere with the necessary learning processes. All nursing students are expected to participate in the Del Mar Student Nurses Association, (D.M.S.N.A.) which is affiliated with the Texas and National Student Nurses Association- all sponsored by the American Nurses Association. This organization will be as worthwhile as the student support it receives. Through the participation of all students in the nursing program, the Student Nurses Association influences each student's appreciation of the nursing role, and also becomes a meaningful organization on campus. See Appendix C for Constitution and By-Laws. Active membership entitles students to attend both the state and national Student Nurses Association conventions.

The American Journal of Nursing, published monthly, is a frequently used reference.  Subscription forms may be obtained through the Del Mar Student Nurses Association (D.M.S.N.A.). There are also other professional nursing journals available.
