February 9, 2000, 2:42-3:43 p.m., VB-170

Attending: John M. Crisp, Mike Gadell, Homer Garza, Noe Guerra, Dolores Huerta, Mattie Marcum, William Mareth, Vickie Natale, Mary Peña, Jim Pierce (Chair), Lisa Welch.

Not Attending: None.

"Command Post" Schedule and Maps: Chair Jim Pierce distributed to the Committee a tentative schedule of the members' assignments for the "Command Post" that will be implemented during the SACS visit. The schedule was adjusted as required. Pierce also distributed maps of the East and West Campuses and of both floors of the Harvin Center. The Committee discussed the location of various campus offices, especially offices that have recently been relocated. Pierce said that Committee members, as well as others, will be used to help guide the visiting team to their interviews; interviewees will help the visitors find their next destination; he said that he would send a memo reminding interviewees of this responsibility. Finally, he distributed three phone numbers for use during the visit: the Command Post (816-0196); Linda Eubank (1455); and The Writing Center (1364). These numbers should be called if problems arise.

Exit Interview and Reaffirmation Committee Schedule: Pierce reviewed the Reaffirmation Committee's schedule. August Alfonso will begin installing the computer equipment in the hotel workroom on Friday, the 11th. One Committee member will arrive on Saturday, the 12th, most will arrive on Sunday, and a few will arrive on Monday. The Reaffirmation Committee will meet at the hotel on Monday afternoon, and the reception and banquet will ensue at 6:30. The exit interview will be Thursday morning (the 17th) and it should last 30 to 45 minutes. Pierce said that he would suggest that the President distribute a reminder to the campus regarding the exit interview.

Response to the Reaffirmation Committee's Report: Pierce said that the College will have to produce a response to the visiting committee's report five months after the visitors leave. Within two to three weeks of the visit, the President will receive a preliminary draft, which the College will review for factual errors. The visiting committee's report then goes to the SACS liaison, John Dwyer, and is returned to the College, completed, within five to six weeks of the visit. Pierce said that the institutional response to the report had been discussed in the I.S.D. Council and that some participation from the Steering Committee in the production of the report may be required.

Next Meeting: To Be Announced.
