The Self-Study Newsletter: Chair Jim Pierce announced that the first self-study newsletter will be issued at the beginning of next week, as well as posted online. He said that the newsletter will be published monthly, and he solicited from the Steering Committee ideas for future editions.

Agenda for Future Meetings: Pierce reminded the Steering Committee that the Financial Resources subcommittee will report to the Steering Committee on February 3 and the Student Development Services subcommittee will report on February 10. He said that the Student Development Services principal committee will be meeting on February 5 and that the chair of the committee had asked for preliminary feedback from the Student Development Services subcommittee (Mary Peña, Lisa Welch, Jim Pierce) before that date.

Subcommittee Report on Institutional Advancement Draft: Mattie Marcum, speaking for the subcommittee (Marcum, Dolores Huerta, John M. Crisp), reviewed each "must" and "should" statement in the draft, reporting on the subcommittee's meeting with the Institutional Advancement committee chair (Bob Ard) on January 22. The subcommittee's report was accepted by the Steering Committee as modified by discussion in the Steering Committee meeting. The subcommittee's report will be submitted to the chair of the principal committee by Monday, February 1, and will be posted online. The Report

Marcum's report included the following suggestions:

1. That each subcommittee attempt to provide to the Steering Committee a draft of the subcommittee's report before the respective Steering Committee discussion.

2. That the Educational Program draft be reviewed in parts.

Other Discussion: Pierce said that as the Steering Committee gains more experience with reviewing the drafts, discussion of the subcommittee reports may move more quickly. He suggested that the Steering Committee seek input from the Educational Program subcommittee on how to review the Educational Program report. He added that the subcommittees will make a copy of their final reports for the principal committee chair and that the final reports will also be put online.
