Contact with the Visiting Committee Chair: Pierce said that he had had voice mail contact with President Frank Friedman, who will chair the SACS visiting team in February of 2000. He said that Friedman had reported that he had been following the progress of the self-study via the homepage, that everything looked good so far, and that he would be looking at the August 1 draft.
Review of Faculty Personnel Files: Pierce reported that the twenty-five discrepant, part-time faculty files found were being reviewed by Vickie Natale's office. The Steering Committee will meet again on Thursday, August 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the Registrar's Office lunchroom to review a random sampling of files that had originally been cleared.
I.S.D. Council Subcommittee: Pierce reported that he and and John M. Crisp had earlier on July 29 met with the Instruction and Student Development Subcommittee assigned the task of producing the Addendum to the Self-Study Report. The subcommittee reviewed a number of the recommendations and suggestions and began to assign responsibility for responding to them. The subcommittee will continue its work on Wednesday, August 4.
The August 1 Draft: Pierce reported that two drafts are now up for review by the Steering Committee: Information Technology Resources and Systems and Organization and Administration.
