Review of the Financial Resources Draft: Mattie Marcum led the Committee through a review of the Financial Resources draft, during the course of which the following points were raised:

• A number of surface errors were pointed out and duly noted.
• Under the imperative that begins "The institution must adhere to a published policy and procedure for refunding fees...": The Committee concluded that a suggestion should be added regarding finding ways to speed up refunds to students.
• Under the imperative that begins "These (auxiliary) activities, when operated by or for the institution...": Add "rental of the pool and gym" to auxiliary enterprises.
• Under the same imperative, in the finding, change "consider producing" to "produce."
• In the introduction to 6.5 Externally Funded Grants and Contracts: Ensure that the listing of grants in the introduction is understood to refer to non-research grants.

Agenda: Chair Jim Pierce reminded the Committee of the "Closure Meeting" scheduled on Wednesday, November 3 at 8:00 a.m. He mentioned also the dinner with Dr. Frank Friedman, chair of the visiting committee, scheduled at the Lighthouse at 5:30 on Thursday, November 4.

Next Meeting: The Steering Committee will meet again on: Tuesday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. in VB-173. The Committee will take up the review of the Summary at that time.
