| The Ranch House - Esperanza H. Kaz |
Esperanza Kaz came to the SBDC for assistance with opening a new restaurant in Three Rivers, Texas. She had worked at a local restaurant for about one year and realized there was a great need for a new sit-down restaurant providing a nice family dining experience. Esperanza had always had a dream of owning her own restaurant for the past sixteen years. She had spent most of the past twenty-five years working in the accounting field, but was now ready to become the entrepreneur she had always wanted to be. |

Ms. Kaz met with Larry Ellis to work on the planning and financing for her new restaurant. Larry Ellis helped to guide her thru the planning steps for the new restaurant and assisted her in preparing a detailed business plan with financial projections. Finally, the loan package was completed and ready to present to local banks. Ms. Kaz was able to get financing for the business thru a SBA low doc loan from 1st Community Bank in Alice, Texas.
Esperanza then began the job of renovating the restaurant building and ordering equipment which would take over four months. The restaurant was decorated with a western motif that provided a very nice rustic environment. There is seating with both tables and booths for fifty-two customers. The restaurant was named “The Ranch House” which fits the style of the restaurant perfectly.

The restaurant officially opened on Valentine’s Day 2003. The restaurant has been doing great business serving both local customers and travelers on Highway 281. Ms. Kaz enjoys meeting and serving her customers and maintaining her high standards for both food and service. She is expanding the menu from steaks, burgers, chicken and salads to some new seafood entries. Esperanza is now living her dream and knows that hard work can make you successful. |
