Robstown Tire & Auto/Goodyear Dealer, Calallen, Texas - Mr. Adolfo Vasquez began working as a store manager for Goodyear in 1970. He worked a total of 21 years at several locations. With over 30+ years in the tire and auto service, he decided to leave the company in 1991 to start his own business. Mr. Vasquez recalls starting Robstown Tire & Auto Service, Goodyear Dealership from “scratch” and with a very small investment, no customer base, and no account receivables. He hired five (5) full-time employees, and both he and his wife devoted 100% of their time to the business.

With a strong focus on quality products and exceptional customer service, it was not long before the business gained trust and loyalty of local customers. The company then experienced a significant market based increase, and in a few years of operation generated a significant amount of sales per month. A very successful business, and a trying year for a major competitor, Firestone, prompted Mr. Vasquez's interest to expand to the Calallen area. He would need financing to buy real estate and build. He was referred to the Del Mar College Small Business Development Center by a local bank. He contacted Elizabeth Soliz to request assistance with a business plan and loan proposal. He was provided a business plan, projections, and loan proposal assistance for an SBA loan application.

First Capital Bank approved the SBA loan. The new location is open for business and is expected to increase sales to over 75%. Robstown Tire & Auto expansion to Calallen created eight (8) new jobs and retained eight (8). Now ten years in business, Mr. Vasquez credits his success to the 100% commitment and hard work he and his family have contributed to make their business successful.
