Bar None Jewelry Repair

David Trevino started his jewelry business in George West when he took over ownership of the jewelry store from the previous owner in April 2000. He had worked as an apprentice until he became a master jeweler. His jewelry store sells jewelry, repairs gold and silver jewelry and he is even able to work with platinum. He also does castings in a wide variety of molds. Mr. Trevino has really been able to please his customers with his ring repairs.

Mr. Trevino moved his store to Three Rivers in October 2004 to try to improve his sales. However, business did not increase significantly. Therefore, he met with Larry Ellis from the Del Mar College Small Business Development Center for assistance with moving his business to Kingsville. The owner discussed the need for a larger market for his jewelry business. He decided that Kingsville looked like the best location for his business.

Larry Ellis helped the owner with financing the move and purchasing some additional inventory. Mr. Trevino had a very large safe that weighed 3500 pounds. This would definitely be the hardest item to move. The new business location gave him a great deal of extra space for the business. It has 1600 square feet which allows him to carry and display more inventory.

David Trevino was able to get a business loan from his local bank in Three Rivers to pay for the move and more inventory. He worked out a deal with the Wal-Mart store in Kingsville to do all their ring sizing. Mr. Trevino has done a great job of moving and expanding his business into a larger market. He was very appreciative for all the assistance he received from Larry Ellis at the SBDC.
