Jerry's Garden Architecture is an existing landscaping business that concentrates on water garden design and construction as well as retail sales of plants, fish and birds. He had been in business for about one year and experiencing some growing pains. His ever-expanding business was becoming too large for his location. He located a larger available property just down the road from his existing location.

The new building and site afforded Mr. Lockett three times the space he currently occupied. Upon referral from his accountant, Mr. Lockett contacted Ann Fierova at the Del Mar College SBDC for assistance with an expansion loan and formal business plan. The plan was completed along with SBA Low-doc forms and submitted to the First National Bank of Woodsboro for consideration. The loan was approved by both the bank and SBA. Mr. Lockett has already moved to his new location and utilized funds received for additional inventory, working capital, and leasehold improvements. This loan resulted in the retention of one job, the creation of one job and a very significant increase in sales.
