One need only look at this incredible 25th Anniversary Mustang to understand
and appreciate Dayyan's love for fast cars. The more Dayyan worked on his
car, and the more he waited for parts to come in, there being no store in
the area selling automotive performance equipment, the more he thought about
opening his own business. Dayyan Wonders saw a definite need for a retail
store in Corpus Christi that sells, and installs, high performance auto
parts and accessories, and decided he could fill this need.
Having learned all he could about aftermarket performance parts, and seeing
the market potential, Dayyan Wonders contacted the Del Mar College Small
Business Development Center in February 2002, for help in structuring a
business plan and loan proposal. SBDC counselor Michael North assisted him
in preparing a business plan, cash flow projections, personal financial
statement, and loan proposal requesting the necessary funding through the
SBA's LowDoc program.
After the plan and financials were complete, Dayyan Wonders approached The
Bank of Alice for the financing and both the bank and the SBA approved him
for the loan, enabling Dayyan to achieve his goal of providing a much needed
retail outlet for performance parts -- Performance Wonders. Dayyan Wonders
stated, "I do not think this would have been possible without the help of
Mr. North; he was instrumental in showing me the way to happiness. He
assisted me in answering all my questions about the steps and procedures it
took to get here. I could not have done this on my own and the SBDC program
was the only thing that could make this happen. Mr. North also put a lot of
time and effort in researching and understanding what I was trying to do. I
am also very pleased that he persisted in calling me and leading me in the
right direction when I was tired and stuck."
From high performance manifolds and cam kits to fuel injectors and nitrous
oxide systems, Performance Wonders offers parts for auto racing,
street-driven classics, late model performance cars and imports that
heretofore could only be ordered through catalogues. Performance Wonders is
now open for business and is located at 3838-C WOW Road. Their phone number,
naturally, 857-zero 2 sixty!
