Computing the Final Grade

The components of the class have different weights. The test have much more value than do the data projects.  The final is worth half as much as one of the tests.

Each test is worth 25% of your final grade.  I drop the lowest grade.  The data projects together are worth 15% of your final grade. They are worth 7.5% each.  The final (Concepts Test) is also worth 10% of your final grade.

1 Test 1

(four tests are given, but the lowest score is dropped)

25 percent Multiply Test 1 grade by .25 Put value here
2 Test 2

(four tests are given, but the lowest score is dropped)

25 percent Multiply Test 2 grade by .25 Put value here
3 Test 3

(four tests are given, but the lowest score is dropped)

25 percent Multiply Test 3 grade by .25 Put value here
4 Data Project # 1   7.5 percent Multiply DIP 1 grade by .075 Put value here
5 Data Project # 2   7.5 percent Multiply DIP 2 grade by .075 Put value here
6 Final (Concepts Test)   10 percent Multiply Final grade by .10 Put value here
Final Grade       Add values. This is your final score.

Here is an example

An Example of Computing a Final Grade

Value of Item toward final grade Process

Add Columns
1 - 6

1 Test 1 76 25 percent 76 X .25 = 19.0
2 Test 2 64 25 percent 64 X .25 = 16.0
3 Test 3 88 25 percent 88 X .25 = 22.0
4 Data Project # 1 100 7.5 percent 100 X .075 = 7.5
5 Data Project # 2 90 7.5 percent 90 X .075 = 6.75
6 Final (Concepts Test) 86 10 percent 86 X .10 8.6
Final Grade 79.85
