Welcome to Sociology

Welcome to the orientation page for my Internet classes in Sociology.  Below the student will find three bits of information.

  • The student will find a link to general orientation material for Blackboard including USER ID's and PASSWORDS.
  • The student will find a link to the Blackboard log-in page
  • Finally, there are three links to specific orientation material for the three classes I teach on the Internet.

Entering Internet Courses

Introductory Sociology, Social Problems, and Minority Studies will be conducted in the Blackboard environment beginning Summer 2009.

All first-time Internet students should visit "getting started with your online class."  Click Here  Students will find information regarding:

  • The students readiness to take on-line class

  • A general orientation to Blackboard

  • On-line course descriptions

  • A discussion of Log-in IDs and Passwords as well as a portal to Blackboard.

  • Contact information for distance learning and the helpdesk

Students who are having problems with the technical aspects of the course should contact the Help Desk by phone or e-mail.

Orientation

The links below lead to orientation material for each specific class.  The student should take a look at the orientation at some point before beginning the course.

Student's should e-mail me any time they begin to feel uncomfortable with any aspect of the course.
