Strategic Planning 2009-2014
Strategic Plan 2009-2014 (pdf)
The current Strategic Plan 2003-2009, Achieving the Dream concludes its cycle at the end of this academic year, and we must continue the great work that has been put in place. Creating an effective strategic plan will enable the College to establish initiatives and goals, and re-position Del Mar College for the future. The planning process will also assist to re-affirm the mission and purpose, which is a critical component in preparing for re-affirmation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
In order to establish an open and transparent process, an experienced facilitator has been engaged to assist with preliminary conversations to seek critical input from the campus, the community and from identified constituents. Marc Chinoy, president of The Regis Group, will act as the College’s facilitator throughout the process over the academic year. Mr. Chinoy will provide the College with a summary of the input that will be integrated into a defined strategic planning process.
Planning Process
Groups of students, faculty, staff, administrators, the Board of Regents, Foundation Trustees and community members have shared their invaluable time and contributed critical insight and innovative ideas about our College. Mr. Chinoy has already facilitated over 40 separate fact-finding activities to gain input and context for our Strategic Plan.
A representative group from across the College and community serves as the Core Planning Group of the Strategic Planning process. This group’s primary purpose is to synthesize the information that has been collected, formulate a basic plan and advise the administration on the most appropriate and meaningful direction. The outcome from this process will shape the solid foundation upon which to build the future of the College.
Two individuals from the College serve as co-chairs of the Strategic Planning Committee: August Alfonso, Chief Technology Officer, and Lenora Keas, Chair of the Department of Business Administration. Upon completion of the core plan Mr. Alfonso and Ms. Keas with the help of the committee will assist the College in rolling out the plan this fall.
The greatest challenge will be initiating the basic plan and repositioning the College for decades to come. This process will build a successful future for Del Mar College and the community it serves.
