Student Activities

Del Mar College offers a wide variety of activities for a well-balanced academic as well as social atmosphere. Students who participate in extracurricular activities usually are more satisfied with their college education, and they feel more a part of the College.

  • Cultural Center
    A strong cultural influence in the community, Del Mar presents close to 100 musical concerts, dramatic presentations, art exhibits, and dance programs throughout the year at little or no charge. In addition, speeches and lectures are given on topics ranging from marine mammals to the stock market, plus workshops, master classes, and teleconferences. As an additional cultural opportunity for Del Mar College students, a limited number of tickets are available during the fall and spring semesters to Harbor Playhouse performances.   • Intramural Sports
    Del Mar College offers a broad range of intramural sports activities open to students, faculty, and staff. Some of the activities offered include basketball, weight lifting, tennis, racquetball, swimming, pickleball, softball, volleyball, horseshoes, flag football, soccer, golf, water volleyball, bowling, and table tennis. Fitness facilities available for student use include a gymnasium, aquatic center with 25-meter swimming pool, tennis and racquetball courts, weight room, and a jogging track.

  • Student Centers
    The Harvin Center on the East Campus and the Coleman Center on the West Campus provide dining facilities, meeting rooms, lounges, game room, television area, and copier machines for student use.

  • Student Organizations
    Students have many opportunities to pursue their special talents and interests by joining one of more than 30 organizations on campus. Registered student organizations include Alpha Psi, Baptist Student Ministry, Communications Club, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Early Childhood, Future Court Reporters, H.I.S. Ministry, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Latter Day Saints Student Organization, Legal Professions, Literary Ramblers, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Mujeres Del Mar, Nightingales Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Phi Mu Alpha, Phi Sigma, Phi Theta Kappa, Press Club, Respiratory Therapy, SEMMO (Science, Engineering and Math Majors Organization), Student Art Association, Student Nurses Association, Student Texas Restaurant Association, Student Vocational Nurses Organization, Stylistics, Student Government Association - East, Student Government Association - West, Travel and Tourism, United Campus Ministry, Viking Baseball, and the X-Ray Club.

  • Performing Opportunities
    All students are invited to audition for campus music ensembles and dramatic productions. Music ensembles include Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Jazz Bands, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Opera Workshop, piano accompanying, Woodwind Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, String Ensemble, and the Corpus Christi Chorale. Del Mar Drama presents a season of four plays a year that vary in style and period, plus a summer Shakespeare Fest.
