In emergency situations, a student
may be required to move very quickly.

Refined hand-eye coordination
skills are needed in certain situations as in threading small-eyed needles,
while gross-eye coordination skills are needed in others as in handing
large orthopedic drills to surgeons.

Students will be required to anticipate
quickly and adequately the needs of the patient, physician, and other health
workers.

Students will be required to develop
and utilize interpersonal relationship skills and be able to function in
highly stressful situations.

Surgical Technology courses are
taught only during daytime hours due to surgical schedules
All applicants follow the general admission requirements of the College. In addition to meeting the general College admission requirements , students planning to enter the Surgical Technology program must fulfill the following criteria:
After program acceptance, the student must submit a completed physical examination which includes the complete Hepatitis B series, a current college transcript and a current card of completion in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Health Care Providers which must be maintained throughout the program.
Upon enrollment, the student must pass a background check and drug screen test, at student's expense, for security clearance and continued enrollment in the program.
All subjects listed in the curriculum are required for graduation. Any or all of the academic courses listed may be taken prior to admission into the program. Academic courses not completed before program entry must be taken in the semester listed. Completion of the academic courses enhances student‘s selection to the program.
