Mentoring is an integral part of the retention activities
of "The Village at Del Mar" and is designed exclusively to
provide for a mutually satisfying experience for both the mentor and
mentee. "The Village" matches mentors, with minority students
who desire to experience a smoother experience within the educational
environment.
A mentor:
- Shares valued skills with a student
- Educates the student by broadening his/her perspective
- Supports the student and his/her academic and social endeavors
- Provides opportunities for the student to become involved
in campus and community activities
- Encourages growth and achievement
- Fosters activity in academic organizations and other leadership
roles
- Consistently serves as an available resource

- Health, physical fitness, and recreation

- A sense of security in his/her status at Del Mar College
