OPEN DOOR ADMISSION
Del Mar College is an "open door" institution. This includes anyone who is a high school graduate, received a GED, or may need individual approval for admission due to special circumstances. Admission to the College does not guarantee admission to all programs of the College due to limits on space or specialized equipment.

ADMISSIONS CHECKLIST
Submit these items to the Admissions and Registrar Office to complete your Admission File:

Application for Admission. Applications are available on campus or on the Web at www.applytexas.org.

Official high school transcript or General Educational Development (GED) test scores if this is your first time in college.

Official college transcripts from all previous colleges attended if you are a transfer student.

Proof of Texas residency for the past 12 months to qualify for in-state tuition rates.

Test scores from ACT, SAT, COMPASS, or THEA (formerly TASP) for all first time college students. Some transfer students may be required to provide test scores.

REGISTRATION
Your Admission File must be complete before you are eligible to register for classes.

Registration dates and procedures are outlined in campus publications and online approximately two months prior to the beginning of each semester. Students with 24 hours or less must be advised before they register. Students may register online or after meeting with an advisor.

An early online registration period is scheduled every semester. Take advantage of online registration. It gives you a better opportunity to get the classes you want at the times you prefer. Check with the Admissions and Registrar Office to find out when online registration begins for each semester. The main semesters for each academic year are referred to as:

    • Fall Semester (August - December)
    • Spring Semester (January - May)
    • Summer I Semester (June - mid-July)
    • Summer II Semester (mid-July - August)

COLLEGE CATALOG
The Del Mar College Catalog provides important information about the various policies, procedures, services, and educational opportunities offered by the College. This reference book answers many questions and informs you of policies governing the College. Catalog information is available on the Del Mar College Web site (www.delmar.edu). Review a catalog before you begin attending the College to become familiar with College policies and procedures.

PAYING FOR COLLEGE

A Del Mar College education is a great investment. On average, a community college degree increases the annual average income by $9 for every $1 you invest.*

Although students and their families are responsible for the cost of a college education, Del Mar College makes every effort to keep higher education affordable. Since Del Mar College receives local property taxes as well as state funding, you only pay for a fraction of the actual cost of your higher education. Compare the cost of the same course at a four-year institution and make the smart choice.

COLLEGE COSTS - 2007-2008 Academic Year
Del Mar College costs are based on your place of residence. If you live in the Corpus Christi, Calallen, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway, or West Oso Independent School Districts, you are a resident of the Del Mar College District and qualify for in-district tuition.

If you live outside these five school districts, but have lived in the state of Texas for the past 12 months, you qualify for out-of-district tuition. If you lived outside the state or the country over the past 12 months, you will pay out-of state/foreign tuition. Military personnel or their dependents should contact the Registrar's Office to establish residency status.
