Cooperative Title V

Defined

  • A "bridging project" connecting the learning experiences of students from area high schools, Del Mar College, and Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.
Purpose
  • The purpose of this Title V program is to provide classes, procedures, and student services that facilitate movement along an educational path that starts in high school, expands in the first two years of college, and culminates in a bachelor's degree.
Participants
  • Students interested in encouragement and support as they acquire an education are urged to enroll in the learning communities (the linked classes) available at Del Mar College and at TAMU Corpus Christi.
Components
  • Component 1 - High School GO-Centers: Go-Centers provide high school seniors with information and help needed to apply for college admission, enroll in linked classes, and find financial aid. Student Associates from Del Mar College and TAMUCC help new student find their way and begin successful college learning.
  • Component 2 - Del Mar College: Title V staff at DMC provides the means by which students map out their college experience, engage in successful learning, find the support they need to improve, and learn about their personal strengths and about working in teams.
  • Component 3 - Texas A&M University Corpus Christi: TAMUCC Title V staff provides information and aid with the transfer process as students move from DMC to the University. Tutoring, advising, and linked classes are available to students approaching the goal of their education — a bachelor's degree.
