For example: 3 semester hours with a “B”grade = 9 grade points. To determine the grade point average, add up the grade points from all courses and divide by the total semester hours attempted. For example: 15 semester hours with 30 total grade points = 2.0 average. The semester hour, a unit of credit, means the amount of credit given for one classroom hour a week for 16 weeks or the equivalent. The semester hour of credit represents at least three hours of work each week, on average, for a period of fifteen to sixteen weeks. (One semester credit hour is equivalent to one hour of classroom work and two hours of preparation/study time to be performed outside of class time.) Laboratory work may add a semester hour’s credit to a course.
