ReCharge Coastal Bend

Re-Charge Coastal Bend is Del Mar College's special initiative to help local businesses and job seekers with rebound efforts as a result of COVID-19. Del Mar College is a recipient of the Texas Workforce Commission's $100,000 training grant to assist businesses impacted by the pandemic.

    Create a WOW experience for your customers.

    Description: The impact of COVID19 to the workplace has changed the expectations of all hospitality positions. Join us to “level up” your hospitality skills. Whether you are looking for a new position or you want to build your skills, our Hospitality Academy will challenge you to do your best. Be an important part of our Corpus Christi experience for visitors.

    Invest in yourself with the following training objectives:

    • Learn how to take charge of your own career development;
    • Participate in a communication assessment to check your skills;
    • Understand how to deliver a WOW experience for customers;
    • Create an action plan to be a key part of the Coastal Bend visitor experience.

    Evaluate your COVID Return to Work Safely Checklist, Best Practices for HR, and Create a Positive Company Culture. 

    Location: online or in-person

    Description: Wearing multiple hats can be tricky, especially when one of the hats include Human Resources duties. Hiring, payroll and making sure employees know the rules can take a lot of time. Our academy will help you organize multiple duties with best practices and helpful hints. We will also review quick checklists so you can make sure you are covering all the important items to have a healthy and positive work environment. Whether you are the office coordinator with several duties or the HR staff member who could use a little refresher, this course is for you.

    Invest in yourself with the following training objectives:

    • It starts with you – Take a communications skill assessment to understand how others experience you;
    • Review checklist and best practices for hiring, employee files, employee handbooks and onboarding processes;
    • Evaluate your COVID Return to Work Safely Checklist;
    • Be an advocate for creating a positive company culture;
    • Create your action plan for Human Resources related item.

    Description:  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Del Mar College-Corporate Services is offering an 8-hour workshop aimed at preparing organizations to keep their employees and customers safe as they operate their business.

    Participants will leave the training with greater understanding of effective infection control practices and the ability to put the learned techniques into action.

    The workshop covers:

    • chain of infection;
    • proper use and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
    • infection control practices;
    • safe use of chemicals for sanitizing work areas;

    and much more!

    Description: Management and Leadership roles are hard to navigate when you are not facing a pandemic. The addition of COVID19 has added new challenges that have left many looking for ways to effectively move forward. If you find yourself trying to track your course through these unpredictable times, we are here to help! Whether you are a leader with years of experience or new to management, we have great tips and tools for you.

    • Create a strong resume;
    • Review and strengthen your management skills for excellence;
    • Determine where you are with your interpersonal skills so you can track your course forward;
    • Build an action plan for moving forward.

    As part of Del Mar College's Special Initiative, RECHARGE COASTAL BEND, we are pleased to announce The Scaffold Builder Training Program for job seekers impacted by the pandemic.

    Description: NCCER Level 1 Scaffold Training - A scaffold builder masters all concepts and procedures involved with scaffold building. This includes handling various conditions in a responsible manner, developing a safety plan, and inspecting scaffold equipment on a regualr basis. He/she interprets safety and hazard warnings to ensure the proper handling of scaffolding.

    Invest in yourself with the following training objectives:

    • Introduction to the Trade;
    • Trade Safety;
    • Trade Tools and Equipment;
    • Trade Math;
    • Supported Scaffolds;
    • Mobile Scaffolds;
    • Suspension Scaffolds


    • Must be unemployed
    • 10 Panel Drug Test prior to registration
    • TWIC (optional)
