Mission and Goals

The Career Development Center is a comprehensive career planning and employment services for Del Mar College students and alumni of all majors and classifications, providing one point of contact to expedite the recruiting efforts of companies and organizations. The Career Development Center supports the college's strategic planning process by improving job readiness and knowledge of services.

Whether you are a new, current student or alumni member, the Career Development Office is ready to help you plan for and achieve your career goals! Through individual appointments with professional staff, workshops, and special events you can make your dream a reality!

    • Choices 360 is an online interactive tool that students and alumni can use to explore careers, colleges, and majors, learn about financial aid, find scholarships, and much, much more! Use activation code TX01673 to create your free account.

    • Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend (WFSCB) launched Career Coach, an interactive labor market and career information tool available to the public through the WFSCB website. This tool provides current employment trends, wages, and job postings by occupation for the Coastal Bend region. It also assists undecided students and job seekers with career assessments and a helpful resume writer, complete with marketable skills descriptions.

    • The Career Kiosk (located next to the bookstore on the East campus) is a one-stop shop for your career needs making it an essential part of the Del Mar College community. These centers are designed for the initial career readiness steps and also offers access to career related search by providing mobile learning spaces, touchscreen computers, tablets, career literacy material, and career software programs.

    This workshop should be designed help students learn about career decision making and step to choosing a major, including self-exploration activities and resources about academic majors.

    LinkedIn is a professional online service with over 675 million members.  It is a powerful tool that allows you to manage your professional identity, build and engage with your professional network, access knowledge, insights and opportunities.

    Career Fair Strategies
    Tips for navigating a career fair, including strategies on what to do before, during and after a networking event.  Tips should be about virtual professional communication and virtual etiquette.

    Virtual and In Person Interviewing
    This workshop is to help students learn how to prepare for the interview in terms of researching the employer, knowing what to expect in an interview, how to dress properly and how to eliminate interviewing anxiety.
