Del Mar College is excited to announce the VIKING SUMMER BAND CAMP!

The Viking Band Camp is open to all students grades 6-12 who have at least one year of playing experience on a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Students will experience making music with Del Mar Colleges world class faculty members, as well as many distinguished music educators from around the area. The daily schedule will include band rehearsals, as well as fun activities such as Viking Movie Day, Ice Cream Social and Dance, and Band Olympics!

Itinerary: Scroll down to see more details.

Registration Deadline & Camp Fee: Monday, June 3. The camp fee is $175. No refunds are available after June 4. The fee includes: camp tuition, daily lunch, sheet music, folder, badge with name and schedule, bottled water, and camp t-shirt. You will also be provided with Snacks for Viking Movie Day, the Ice Cream Social/Dance, and Band Olympics.

Auditions and Part Assignments: Because we do not want to turn your camp experience into a competition, there will be no official audition for chair placement at this camp. Part assignments and chair placement for the camp will be made at the discretion of the band conductors throughout the week. Please be flexible and respect our judgement. Instruments: You are responsible for bringing your own instrument for the Band Camp with the exception of Percussion. All percussion instruments will be provided for you; however, you must bring your own sticks and mallets to the camp.

Meals: Lunch will be provided each day of the camp. Vegetarian options will be made available. You are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks if you prefer.

Snacks: Additional snacks are available for purchase during our breaks throughout the band camp. Please bring money if you wish to purchase snacks or you may bring your own.

Concert Attire: You will wear your camp T-shirt and long pants for the FINAL CONCERT.

Daily Arrival and Dismissal Times: Drop off and pick up campers at the Richardson Performance Hall daily. See campus map here.  Early arrival times are available as camp assistants will be there to supervise students if they need to be dropped off early. Our staff will also remain on campus to supervise until every student has been picked up each day.
