Come and join us for three days of guitar fun and playing at the 4th Annual Viking Classical Guitar Summer Camp!

Must have the ability to read music and familiarity with basic classical guitar techniques.

The theme this year is developing a fast and fluent right-hand technique in arpeggios and scales. First, we will work on how to position the right hand optimally to create maximum efficiency. Second, we will work on specific tricks to achieve speed effortlessly in arpeggios. Third, we will work on specific tricks to achieve speed effortlessly in rest-stroke scales. The morning sessions will be devoted to working on specific principles and exercises. You will also get Professor Hii’s updated cheat sheet of right-hand guitar tricks and exercises.

In the afternoons, you’ll play with your friends in small and large ensembles. We’ll also work on sight-reading and develop strategies to help improve your sight-reading as well as prepare for UIL.

At the end of each day, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in informal “open-mike” performances for your friends and family, so prepare something to share with us all! As long as you play it on a classical nylon string guitar, you can play any style of music you wish.

On the third day, for the grand finale, we’ll have a final concert featuring the ensembles and the Viking Classical Guitar Camp Orchestra!

For more information, please contact Ms. Yvonne Rodriguez at music@delmar.edu or 361-698-1211.

We look forward to seeing you there!
