Del Mar College serves a student body that is an accurate reflection of the population of the City of Corpus Christi according to the most recently available census information. Sixty-five percent of the student body of Del Mar College, averaged across the Fall terms of 2014 through 2017, and 61.9 percent of Corpus Christi identify as Hispanic. These figures both represent a Hispanic population that is more than double the US Department of Education requirements for an institution qualifying as a Hispanic Serving Institution (25%).

This student body population also demonstrates how the college is providing a vital service to the community. Del Mar College holds Educational Access as one of its Guiding Principles, providing affordable educational opportunities for all and developing responsible citizens who enhance their communities. The evidence of the success of this service is in our demographics, between the Fall terms of 2014 and 2016 an average of 35 percent of students enrolled came from households with a total family income below $30,000 annually.
