Where to find citation information in a book’s title and copyright page:

Example of APA references for books including Book Title (include the subtitle) beginning of book, author's name directly under the title, publisher is located near the front of book, and date of publication is under the publisher.

APA Book Citations
Citations for books include:

  • Author or editor’s name(s) (last name followed by first and middle initials; multiple authors are separated by commas and the ampersand symbol “&”)
  • Date of publication (in parentheses)
  • Title of book italicized (capitalize only first word of the title, first word of subtitle, and proper nouns)
  • Publisher name
  • DOI (always include if there is one) or URL (when using an ebook or audiobook version that is not part of a database)

Note: Include as much of the above information as possible in the reference entry. Any missing information may be left out.
