Exam Information

IMPORTANT: The Testing Center will not hand out exams during the last hour of operation. Exams must be completed at least 15 minutes prior to closing time. Please check testing hours of operation. All testing fees are non-refundable.

The Del Mar College Testing Center offers the following exams:

  • TSI

    The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state mandate that requires testing to measure college-level readiness in reading, mathematics, and writing. This test will determine which classes you will be required to take during your first and subsequent semesters at Del Mar College.

  • ACT

    The American College Test (ACT) is a national standardized test that measures skills in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science to determine how well you perform the skills necessary for college coursework.

    ACT registration bulletins may be picked up from the Counseling Office or Testing Office. Registration form and fee must be sent directly to the ACT company.

  • CLEP

    The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a national program of credit by examination that allows examinees to obtain recognition for college level achievement. The Del Mar College Testing Center offers all 33 CLEP exams. CLEP exams cover material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college.

    *BEFORE REGISTERING, verify with your institution/counselor if the particular CLEP exam you will be taking is accepted.

    Test Dates

    Fridays between 8:00 AM to 12:15 PM.


    1. Create an account and pay the $87 exam fee (Credit/Debit ONLY)
    2. Pay and schedule to take your CLEP exam at the Del Mar College Testing Center located at 3013 Ayers.
  • Correspondence Exams

    The Del Mar College Testing Center is recognized as a proctoring agent for college extension and distance learning programs. Our goal is to provide high-quality test administration and assessment services for Del Mar College and the Coastal Bend.

    Students who wish to take exams from another College, University or Institution must complete the following steps:

    1. Fill out the Correspondence Request Form (Request Forms MUST be received at least 1 week prior to the desired testing date)
    2. Send the completed Correspondence Request Form to the DMC Testing Center via fax (361) 698-2219, email testing@delmar.edu or in person at 3013 Ayers, Multi-Service Center, Room 125.
    3. The DMC Testing Center will notify the College, University or Institution requested.
    4. Once approved, the DMC Testing Center will notify the examinee and schedule an appointment. Students must schedule exams at least 24 hours in advance.
    5. Please review the DMC Testing Center Rules and Policies and Hours of Operation before scheduling.

  • DMC Instructor Exams

    Our goal is to provide high-quality test administration and assessment services for Del Mar College students. Some DMC faculty require students to complete course exams at the Testing Center. Instructors use the Testing Center to provide a secure, proctored testing environment outside the classroom.

    Faculty and examinees are responsible for abiding by Del Mar College Testing Center Rules and Policies. Please check Testing Hours of Operation.

    Remember that you must schedule your exam at least 24 hours in advance.  If a test date is labeled as "Full," you may still take your exam as a standby.  Standby test takers may incur a wait but will be able to test.

  • GED

    Del Mar College serves as an official test site for the General Education Development (GED) exam for the Coastal Bend.

  • TEAS

    Please contact the Nursing Department at (361) 698-2863 for approval to schedule the ATI TEAS exam. Once approved, come by the Testing Center at 3013 Ayers, Room 125, to pay for your exam OR use the link below.

    • Appointments are on a first come, first served basis. Seating is limited. Examinees testing on Fridays must schedule and pay for their exam BEFORE the TUESDAY prior to the exam. Examinees testing on Tuesdays must schedule and pay for their exam BEFORE the FRIDAY prior to the exam.
    • You must be a Del Mar College student.
    • You may not bring a calculator. Calculators are built into the exam. 
    • A valid, unexpired government issued photo ID is required at the time of testing. (Driver's license, TX ID card, military ID, or passport). STUDENT IDs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
    • Examinees need to report 15 minutes prior to testing time.
    • Examinees MUST create a user name and password with ATI BEFORE testing. Examinees will use the created username and password to access the exam.

    Del Mar College now offers the HiSET exam which is a five-part test states use in the process of issuing a high school equivalency credential. The exam allows you to show you have the same academic knowledge and skills as a high school graduate.

    Important Information for Candidates

    All tests are timed and consist of multiple choice and true/false questions.

    All licensing applicants must be pre-approved by the TCEQ before applicants are eligible to take a CBT. Once approved, the applicant will be eligible to attempt a total of 4 tests during a one-year approval period. Candidates are allowed to immediately retest after failing the first three of four tests during his/her one year approval period if the Testing Center has adequate space. An additional test fee will by charged by the Testing Center for the immediate re-test.

    Candidates will schedule their exam using the link below and will be required to bring the following items to the Testing Center on test day:

    1. Copy of approval letter from the state
    2. Valid, unexpired Driver's License or State ID Card
    3. Know your social security number

    Cost: $20 per exam. Examinees must schedule and pay for their exam at least 24 hours in advance. Examinees may pay and schedule their exam online using the link below or may come into the Testing Center to pay and schedule for their exam. The Testing Center is located at 3013 Ayers, Corpus Christi, TX 78404.
