President's Council

President's Council

President's Council members enjoy opportunities for learning about and tours of DMC programs.

Why Join the President's Council?

President’s Council includes individuals and businesses in our community who believe in the education excellence and the value Del Mar College has on the local workforce, community and in students' lives. It provides a leadership giving opportunity to support the College president in advancing the mission and vision of the college in ways that are generally lacking the funding to accomplish.

President's Council Funds Two Areas:

President's Excellence Fund

The President’s Excellence Fund empowers Del Mar College President & CEO, Mark Escamilla, Ph.D. to reach a level of excellence in advancing the College’s mission and vision. Examples include community involvement, unexpected programmatic needs or opportunities, and faculty or student needs.

Viking Vanguard

This program aims to provide leadership experience for current Del Mar College students. Viking Vanguard members serve as a positive representation of the DMC brand, attending College events and activities and engaging via social media. The program offers opportunities for personal and professional development, requiring members to participate in various capacities and attend training on DMC resources.

As representatives of the College, members are expected to demonstrate exemplary behavior, a service-oriented attitude, and a willingness to assist prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders. Viking Vanguard members receive a $1,000 stipend per academic year for their participation ($500 per semester).

  • President’s Counselor - $10,000
