What kinds of accommodations can I receive as a parenting student?
Students experiencing pregnancy or pregnancy related conditions are entitled to reasonable accommodations for the health and safety of their pregnancy. Students requesting each protection or accommodation under this policy can contact the Student Parent Liaison. Some examples of common reasonable accommodations include:
- Excused absences,
- Opportunity to make up missed assignments or assessments,
- Additional time to complete assignments in the same manner as is allowed for other temporary medical conditions,
- Pregnant students are provided access to instructional materials and video recording of lectures for classes which the student has an excused absence,
- A larger desk or different seating arrangements.
Are there scholarships or other forms of financial aid available for pregnant and parenting students?

The application for the DMC Foundation Scholarships opens every year and is available for students with a GPA above a 2.0. Some scholarships specifically aim to support parenting students. Find the application here.
Make sure to complete the FAFSA each year, even if you’ve been found ineligible for aid previously. Find the FAFSA application here.
