Program Mission
The Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs are dedicated to the following minimum expectations: To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the following concentrations:
- Abdominal-Extended Sonography
- Adult Cardiac Sonography
Mission of Del Mar College

Program Goals
The goals of the Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Programs are consistent with the needs of the community and the interest of the students. The learning domains are in accordance with CAAHEP and reflect the expectations of Del Mar College. Specific goals include:
- Instill high academic and professional standards in students and graduates
- Maintain program accreditation standards through CAAHEP
- Provide a solid resource for the clinical facilities of the Corpus Christi and surrounding area
- Ensure graduates develop critical thinking skills
- Apply lifelong learning in the Sonography profession
- Meet CAAHEP credentialing success rates on the ARDMS registry examination
