Employee Benefits

ERS Health Insurance

  • Employee premiums are fully funded by DMC and State after initial 60 days.
  • Dependent premiums are funded 50 percent by DMC, 50 percent by the employee.

Basic Term Life Insurance

  • Includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • Term Life in the amount of $5,000. Fully funded by DMC and State.

Dental Insurance

  • Three plans available: PPO, HMO, Dental discount plan. Fully funded by the employee.

Vision Insurance

  • Available to employees and eligible dependents. Fully funded by the employee.

Optional Term Life

  • Includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • DMC fully funds one time annual salary; insurance available in multiples of one to four times annual salary (limited to $400,000).

Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment

  • Available to employees and eligible dependents. Fully funded by the employee.

Texas Income Protection Plan

  • Short Term Disability - Fully funded by the employee.
  • Long Term Disability - Fully funded by DMC.

Dependent Term Life Insurance

  • Includes Accidental Death and Dismemberment
  • Available at $5,000 for all eligible dependents. Fully funded by the employee.

TexFlex

  • Pre-tax deduction to create a reimbursement account for medical/dental expenses and/or child/eldercare expenses.

Cancer/Specified Health Event/Accident Plans

  • Tiered plans available to the employees and their families. Fully funded by the employee.

Retirement

All full-time employees are enrolled in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS). Employee contributions are 8.0 percent and DMC contributions are 7.75 percent.

Full-time faculty and eligible administrative employees may elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) as an alternative. Employee contributions are 6.65 percent and DMC contributions are 6.6 percent.

Tax-Sheltered Annuity Accounts (403b)

  • Available to all employees. Annual maximum contributions apply, determined annually by the IRS.

Leave Accruals

Vacation

  • Benefit-eligible personnel may use after six months of employment.
  • Exempt personnel, counselors, librarians and faculty department chairpersons receive 120 hours per fiscal year, or prorated share appropriate to the employee's yearly assignment.
  • Nonexempt personnel receive 80 hours per fiscal year (earned at 3.08 hours per pay period for 26 pay periods).
    • 10 years of service, nonexempt personnel receive 96 hours (3.7 hours per pay period).
    • 15 years of service, nonexempt personnel receive 120 hours (4.62 hours per pay period).

Sick Leave

  • Employees accrue 120 hours per fiscal year, prorated per pay period (960 hours maximum).

Personal Leave

  • 16 hours per fiscal year available to 9-month employees
  • 24 hours per fiscal year available to 12-month employees

Paid Leave for full-time employees (closures/holidays)

  • Labor Day
  • Wednesday before, Thanksgiving Day, and Friday after
  • Winter Break (2-week period to include Christmas and New Year's Day)
  • Martin Luther King Observance
  • Spring Break
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day

Enrollment in DMC Classes

  • Tuition exemption provided for credit and non-credit courses to full-time employees and their eligible dependents.
  • Eligible after one year of employment.
