Class D Operator Training Program

Program Overview
This short-term program prepares students for an entry-level position as a Class D Wastewater Treatment Operator. The program is designed to equip students with foundational knowledge and practical skills required to operate wastewater collection and
treatment systems safely and effectively.
The program integrates an 80-hour course that focuses on wastewater treatment processes, safety procedures, system operations, laboratory practices, and state and federal regulations.
Course topics emphasize current industry practices, essential skills, and professional behaviors relevant to wastewater operations. Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion recognized by TCEQ as meeting the training requirement to apply for the Wastewater Class D license examination.

Admissions Requirements
- Students must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma/GED not required
- Recommended minimum of 9th grade level math and reading knowledge
Testing information
Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to apply for the Wastewater Class D license examination administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Completion of this program meets the required training hours to sit for the exam.
