Program Overview

The Entry-Level Electrical Lineworker Training Program incorporates an in-depth curriculum, emphasizing the highest standards of safety to help start your career as an Entry-Level Electrical Lineworker. Students will participate in hands-on field training with instruction delivered by certified industry experts over the 10-week training program and be ready to enter the job market with the skills necessary to succeed in the electric utility industry.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma / GED, or college transcript
  • Complete a criminal background check (student pay)
  • Negative drug screen (student pay)
  • Proof of student health insurance for the length of the program (student pay)
  • Provide Physical Evaluation form signed by a physician (student pay)
  • Prerequisites must be completed and submitted at a minimum of three-weeks prior to the start of the program.

Program SchedulE


  • Fall 2025:
    • Classes are held Monday through Friday, with one Saturday training, at Del Mar College Windward Campus and the NEC Training Field in Crosstown.
    • Classes are scheduled from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, but can end earlier depending on the skills being covered that week. Evening review sessions are also offered as needed.
  • Completion of Student Packet Applications is required to complete registration.

Program Investment*

* Investments/costs may be added/updated before next cohort.

  • Tuition & Fees: $4,850
  • Prerequisite Tests: $100
  • Physical Evaluation: Dependent on student's coverage, contact us for more info

Recommended Investment*

* These additional investments are not required to participate in the program but are highly encouraged, as they can increase your employability. Most employers require a CDL, along with safety and climbing gear upon hire. These options can be discussed with the student at the time of registration.

  • CDL Class A Program: $4,800**
    • ** Recommended, and will add 5 weeks of additional training; contact us for more info!
  • Tools: $3,600**
    • ** Recommended as the climbing gear & tools will be fitted specifically for you, but options available; contact us for more info!

Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify!
A FAFSA & TPEG application are recommended, and can help with the program's tuition & investments. A portion of the tuition is supplemented by the Texas Mutual Safety Grant.
