Dual Credit Student Resources

Please review the resources below to help you navigate the Early College processes.

  • Apply Texas Guide

    Apply for free to Del Mar College at GoApplyTexas.org

    See the steps below for instructions.

    PART I. CREATE APPLYTEXAS LOGIN ACCOUNT

    • Select: Create Your Account Now and complete My Profile information as required.
    • Grade Level is the grade you will enter in the upcoming semester.
    • Address MUST include a physical address.
    • Record your Apply Texas password.
    • Save your Profile information.
    • Agree to USPS standardization of address.
    • Record your Apply Texas username

     

    PART 2. CREATE APPLICATION

    • Go to My Applications and create a New Application.
    • Select – Two-Year Community/Junior College.
    • Select – Del Mar College-Corpus Christi.
    • Select – Semester.
    • Select a Major - Most Dual Credit students will indicate Liberal Arts, unless they are enrolling in a CTE program.

    COMPLETE BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
    The application indicates a space for your social security number but they do not indicate it as "required."

    If you choose not to provide your social security number, you will be required to submit a copy of your social security card to the DMC Admissions Office. Also, not including your social security number will delay your application.

    APPLICATION CHECKLIST - CHECK ALL INFORMATION

    • Type your high school name to look up the appropriate code as requested and save.
    • When asked "basis you are seeking admission," select Dual Credit (Earning both high school and college credit).
    • When asked primary reason for attending classes, enter either Earn Credits for Transfer or Earn Certificate.

     

    RESIDENCY INFORMATION
    Typically, Dual Credit students will base their residency on a parent since they are claimed as a dependent. Most Dual Credit students do not file their own income tax as an independent tax payer. Please read each question carefully and answer accordingly.

    Most dual credit students are claimed as a dependent, so select Yes.

    If the parent and/or student is a permanent resident (not a US citizen), additional documentation will be required by the DMC Admissions Office; please contact them for more information.

    CUSTOM QUESTIONS FOR THIS INSTITUTION
    You may answer only required questions but will need to select "Save, Acknowledge Question."

    PART 3. SAVE AND PROCEED TO "SUBMIT NOW"

    1. Take a screenshot of your Application ID or save it in your notes.
    2. Check for your confirmation email from Apply Texas.
    3. Check your email to acknowledge that your application was received. Save this email as it contains important information.
  • Canvas - Logging into Online Courses

    Canvas is the online student portal for accessing your online courses.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT ARE THE BROWSER AND COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS FOR CANVAS?

    Please visit the Canvas System Requirements page to ensure your browser and operating system will work with Canvas. Canvas supports the current and first previous major releases of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Canvas no longer supports Internet Explorer.

    CAN'T SEE YOUR COURSES IN CANVAS?

    • You're looking too soon. Your courses will not show up in the courses list until the first day of class.
    • The course is unpublished. Your instructor may not have published the course yet. If you believe that you should see the course but don't, contact your instructor.
    • You need to customize your courses list. The courses list can be customized to show only certain courses. Select Courses in the pane on the left, select All Courses, and make sure all of your current courses have a star next to them.
    • You registered less than 2 hours ago. The server requires up to 2 hours to push newly registered students into their courses.
    • Your instructor does not use Canvas. Your instructor may have chosen not to use Canvas. Contact your instructor to double check.

  • Having Issues Logging In to Canvas?

    1. Having issues? Try these steps first:
      Check here for Canvas status updates.
    2. Reset your password.

    If your issue is not addressed here, email a detailed description of the problem to Viking Help Desk at vikinghelpdesk@delmar.edu.

  • Pay Tuition & Fees

    Students will need to make a payment arrangements before the semester tuition deadline. You will not be sent a bill by mail. If you do not pay, or make arrangements to pay, all financial obligations to the College, you may have your classes will be dropped. View Payment Methods here.

  • Register for Classes

    Students will register for their dual credit courses with their high school counselor. Homeschool students will meet with a dual credit advisor and will register in person at the Dual Credit Office.

  • Retrieving My DMC Student Information

    • Activate your DMC Email & Sign Into Student Portal (WebDMC)
      Stay informed! Your DMC student email provides up-to-date information about on-campus events. Many of our student services offices will contact you through this email. Get your DMC ID, Username and Password.
    • Download the Viking GoApp
      VikingGo allows you to view interactive campus maps, review your class schedule details and make a tuition payment.
    • Join Our Texting Service
      Is it easier to contact you through text? Text BeAViking to 313131 to stay in the loop!
  • Student ID, Parking, & Books

    Student identification cards (IDs) are issued free of charge to you when you first register; however, a charge will be made for replacements. Also, IDs must be validated each subsequent registration period (semester).

    Cards are good for admission to College functions, for obtaining library materials, and for using recreational facilities. You should carry it with you at all times and present it upon request.

    You can get your ID card at the Harvin Center (Heritage Campus) or the Barth Learning Center (Windward Campus) by showing proof of registration and payment. Identification cards are made during all library hours except the first and last 30 minutes of operation.

    Parking Permit

    To park your car on campus, you need a Vehicle Identification Permit (VIP). To get a VIP, fill out a parking registration card and submit it to Campus Security. They, in turn, will issue you a VIP. Campus Security is located at the Maintenance Building at Naples Street and Kosar Street on the Heritage Campus.
